Good to be on the road once again

P1010035

After spending an entire month in the Gulf Shores area, we headed west on I-10 and it really felt good to be on the move again for both of us.   Bob seems to be back in the progress mode again with a recent surge in strength and desire to see and experience new things.    It feels good once again and thank goodness life is feeling more settled.

Judy, we honked the horn and waved as we passed the Sandhill Crane NWR.  You were probably out capturing more of those wonderful wildlife photo’s that you do so well.

We enjoyed a tail wind the entire day Sunday.   It certainly made for  an easy travel day  and as we crossed  the Mississippi River the sunset was whispering….”keep on trucking”

As I was driving along it suddenly dawned on me that nearly 12 years ago, almost to the day, my Mom and Dad were traveling with me in the very same spot however headed in the other direction.   I had a “tired, old Winnebago” that I traveled in while working temporary positions at various airports.   I purchased the poor beast with the intention of working and traveling while I was employed for  Northwest Airlines.   In my mind life in those days couldn’t get much better than being able to mix work and adventure.    Ah, the memories!

Although in recent years, the airline industry has changed in such a manner that I could not imagine it ever would have, I am still very grateful for the doors that my career opened for me.  I had the privilege of seeing much of the world, meeting new people, sharing in cultures I otherwise would have never been exposed to, and embracing the differences as well as the likenesses in people.   I am a firm believer in staying just a smidgeon out of my comfort zone, …it has built a strong character!  (As some would say, what a character)

I am certain that keeping life just a tad on the edge has helped me to continue on this trip of a lifetime even with the health circumstances and challenges.   Life is good!

We are spending the next few nights at Sam Houston Jones State Park in Lake Charles LA…..still looking to see an alligator!

By the way, a big thank you goes to my blogging friends that suggested I try using Live Writer.   It is making all the difference in the world…no problems, no frustration, smooth sailing.   I was getting so frustrated with Blogger and it’s issues that I felt like throwing in the towel.   Thanks bunches!!!

Have a great day

  1. What a beautiful picture of the sky Sue. I really enjoy reading about your roadtrip, feels like I am there with you. Today I really wish I were, it's a little cold here in MN! Take care and have fun ~oh and stay away from the alligators! :) Sharon

    1. Sharon, you had better get with the program and help me find an alligator if you are feeling like you are traveling with me...LOL I am sorry it has gotten so cold again in MN, but then again girl, it is January. You had better get out and do your "snow dance" to cover the ground before those subzero temps roll in.

  2. I wondered what all that honking was about! :) Too bad you didn't stop by. We have a site here that friends of the volunteers can stay in for a night or too (for free!).

    1. Oh Judy I should have contacted you I guess huh? That is always good to know about free sites for friends of volunteers. Are you camped within the reserve? That would have been a treat to meet you and Emma. Another trip maybe!

  3. So glad to hear that you're rolling along again! Your experience with Live Writer is the same as ours, and we really like using it. I've been using Google Chrome as my browser, and have had zero problems making comments, reading blogs, or anything else so far.

    1. Thanks for the tip about Google Chrome Russ....I will try that as well. I am still having difficulties sometimes even accessing blogs as well as commenting. I am so glad that I was steered in the direction of Live Writer. I am sure I will have questions as I go about that as well. Blogger must only pick and choose some of us to irritate and agitate.

  4. I really think Blogger has a split personality...sometimes it works fine and other times, for no apparent reason, it just goes off the deep end. Glad you are using Live Writer..it's a great program. Glad Bob is feeling some better and hope he continues to show improvement. Travel safe.

    1. Shoot Donna...maybe Blogger and I am more similar than I thought..LOL! I am enjoying using Live Writer and one would think that Blogger would be concerned about everyone jumping ship...seems to me it may affect their bottom line in advertising revenues.

    1. Hi Dee. I thought that Live Writer did work on a Mac but I guess not huh? What are the chances of you installing Windows 7 for some of the software benefits..not that there are many! It is our hope to come out to California after leaving AZ. It would be great to meet you and Mike. I hope all is smoothing out for V. The medical ups and downs certainly take the stuffins' out of the caregiver don't they? My thoughts are with you
