Just another great day

IMG_0023
……….   and even a real  smile to boot !!!!  Strokes are a funny thing.   I have asked Bob on numerous occasions to smile for a photo and the connection between  voluntary and an involuntary smile is very confusing and difficult.
Today, I was bound and determined to get a grin out of him before I put the camera away….Finally, although I was forced to make a few off color comments that I dare not repeat, and now he appears to be crying….  Go figure.
We took a short drive this morning around the North side of Lake Lavon in search of other COE parks for the future.    Unfortunately, most are  seasonal and are not open until April 1  at which time we will have moved on.    The park we are in is quite nice complete with full hook-ups but amongst the sounds of the birds, there is some competition …..

We are thankful the train doesn’t blow it’s whistle, otherwise someone would have to scrape us  off the ceiling of the coach.
The sudden warm up of temperatures along with  heavy rains last week has thrown the area into full bloom.

The new growth on this tree was beautiful with the bluebonnets in the background…I am still playing with features  and maybe next year at this time the pictures will show exactly what I am seeing through the eyepiece.

I want to thank everybody that has offered their photography suggestions to this old grey mare.   You have given me hope and encouragement in knowing I can shoot, adjust, tweak, or delete and keep on shooting.   Who says we are too old to learn new things……I CAN DO THIS.

Thanks for checking up on us.

  1. Bob looks real good in that photo. You must have said a lot of "blue words" since even the flowers are that same color! Nice photos, Susan...thanks again for sharing. Sure good to see the sunshine there. Kinda grey day here (again).

    1. Sorry Russ about the grey skies....I thought that I was going to go nuts in the RV with rains for what seemed like weeks on end. My spirits are much better the past few days.

  3. U know what i have a hard time grasping is that i can take ALOT of pictures of the same thing and delete, like u said, from the age of film, i keep trying to get the perfect picture every time :) cuz we used to have to pay for all those failures... yea digital, we don't have to keep everything. Depth of field is very hard to do & find, where it is crystal clear right in front of u, then 100 miles away too, Ansel Adams was a master, look him up on line, if u don't know him. I have gotten to see his work a couple times, up close and personal in exhibits..it is wonderful to say the least & perfectly in focus!!! Just practice, practice. I personally have a hard time wrapping my head around everything & leave auto on alot of the time & get frustrated. Patience is a virtue 'they' say. A smile is worth everything, right ??

    1. I guess that I shall resign myself to just enjoy the moment and not get so up-tight about photo's not turning out so hot. The purpose of them is to bring back memories for ourselves, right?? That in itself makes us smile.

We made it down to the Valley and into Mexico over a long weekend. One our way back we went to Del Rio and across the border to visit with our Grand daughter, had a great time. 2. Hey friends how are things going??? I had to jump in here and tell you your pictures are great. Bob looks like he is enjoying the sunshine or is it that he is on his way back to Allegan?? As Dave just told you, we went to the valley for the weekend, had an awesome time. Next time we'll make plans to go down there together. Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip. Love, Shirley

  5. Love the picture of Bob. It must be a struggle to come back from a stroke and he looks like he is making progress. Hang in there, I know it can't be easy for you either. You're getting pretty handy with that camera!!
